Return To Teaching Course from University of Strathclyde

The University of Strathclyde is running a Return To Teaching Course from September to December 2019Teacher with a group of university students.

The course is made up of 10 three hour sessions, from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday evenings and will take place at the University’s Lord Hope Building at 141 St James Road, Glasgow, G4 0LT.

There will be 10 classes with the first on 18 September and the last 4 December (there will be no class on 16 October and one other Wednesday which is yet to be confirmed.)

It will be of interest to returning teachers in Primary and Secondary, and teachers new to Scotland who are eligible for registration with GTC Scotland.

The programme includes:

  • GTC Scotland: Registration, Probation & Professional Learning
  • Curriculum for Excellence
  • Closing the Attainment Gap
  • The Teacher and the Law
  • Managing pupil behaviour and classroom ethos
  • Technology in teaching
  • Child Protection
  • Option of school visits and voluntary work
  • What Head Teaches expect
